hello everybody
a few weeks ago i was in a car accident that left my vehicle useless. i had to sell it for parts for about a hundred dollars. i was basically living out of that car because i cannot go back to my parents home where my racist queerphobe brother in law (who is an nra member and makes the place completely unsafe) lives. now i have to take public transportation all over san diego county, which can be expensive at times, just so i can get around to my doctors appointments and to my belongings that i’ve had to store at people’s places where i’m allowed to. my car was my only real form of income (i was doing delivery services for an app). i am really in need of financial assistance. anything you can give will be tremendously helpful in this trying time. i’m a disabled trans woman of color and finding employment has been impossibly difficult. thank you for your time an attention.

This post has been made before but t4t includes transfems. A transmasc and a transfem dating is still t4t. I’ve seen transfem ppl on this site ask if they are included in posts about t4t and its frustrating bc trans love is meant to be shared n spread across the entire trans community, not just within sects of transmascs n transfems, but clearly we are not showing this love to transfems enough that they know about it

the “holding out as married” rule is so fucked up
like… not only can I not marry the love of my life without losing my health insurance and the $800 or so a month I’m forced to survive on
but I can’t even CALL her “my wife” casually
like literally the US gov’t has people whose job it is to go and interview the family, friends, & neighbors of disabled people to just make sure that they never refer to anyone in their life as “my wife” or “my husband” etc
and if you DO, then SNAP! You’re defrauding the US gov’t of the pittance you can barely survive on and you are no longer entitled to your disability benefits
(some kinds of benefits might remain in diminished form but if you were disabled before age 22 you are fucked COMPLETELY and can’t get them back even if you divorce… the only loophole is if the other person was ALSO deemed disabled before 22, because that fucking makes sense)
and this is just… legal and no one but disabled activists ever talks about this shit
so yeah I’d love some of that gay marriage shit but I will never be able to get married, and to add insult to injury, I can’t even casually refer to my partner as “my wife” without risking the health insurance and income I need to survive as a disabled lesbian
this is what we mean when we say the USA does NOT have marriage equality yet

Y’all should be organizing for rent freezes in your cities if you aren’t already. This pandemic is causing a lot of lay offs, underemployment and an increasing lack of work. If we don’t have wages how can we possibly afford rent? Some cities are passing eviction moratoriums but can anyone of us possibly afford to pay months of back rent when this is all over? We’re organizing for a rent freeze in Portland and encouraging other cities to do as well. Within a few days we’ve received over 23,000+ signatures. The working class cannot afford this crisis. We need relief now! If we can’t get that then we should go on a rent strike. Talk to people in your community, set up mutual aid groups if you haven’t already and organize!
Theres one for Indianapolis too! So close to reaching the 25k signature goal!
San Diego is on with a pretty strong demand for a rent freeze as well.
